NEWS

Tinubu Must be Joking!

A response to Tinubu's request to Yoruba state governors to provide grazing land for herdsmen.

When the news broke ... a few days ago that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria asked the governors of Yorubaland to give land to Fulani people for whatever purpose they needed the land for,I thought I did not hear him right. In fact,I thought I was dreaming, because, given the experience of any Yoruba person in the recent and remote past, what we have heard and seen, no sane Yoruba person would wish to be neighbours to any Fulani person ever again. Surprisingly,President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,a professed Yorubaman, has chosen to lead his people to the slaughter house.I hope we heard him wrong! Sahara Reporters had reported that President Tinubu urged state governors to provide grazing land for herdsmen, stressing that the provision of grazing land for herders would end the violent clashes between farmers and herders and the loss of lives and farm produce. What kind of lopsided, involuted and backhanded request is that? That Yoruba should give more of their land to Fulani,a people who have waged an unrelenting, unceasing war of attrition and barbarism against Yorubaland for the past two hundred years; That Yoruba should accommodate more Fulani within their territory so that farmers and herders clashes could end?Why can't they stay within their own territory (if they have any)outside Yorubaland so that the violence could end? That Yoruba should provide more land for murderers, rapists, abductors and kidnappers to live in their midst so that these heartless felons would have more latitude to perpetrate more crimes against law abiding Yoruba; That Yoruba should provide space for the invaders of Igangan town in Oyo state to sack more Yoruba towns and kill countless folk the way they killed over fifty innocent Igangan residents on June 05,20 That Yoruba should eagerly welcome the perpetrators of the Owo,Ondo state mayhem of June 06, 2022,where over seventy Christian worshippers were slaughtered as they were observing a solemn Sunday service; Read more

THESE ARE THE PEOPLE TINUBU WANTS US TO GIVE MORE LAND TO!

Nigeria since 2010 has become a theatre of war coordinated by the Islamic militant group Boko Haram ... and Fulani herdsmen.Since 2010 till date,no fewer than 50,000 lives have been lost to the barbaric acts of these heartless felons. This includes several Yoruba people that have been killed either in the North or in Yorubaland, right in their homes,or on the road, around their farms or on the streets. For instance,in Oke-Ako and lpao Ekiti,Fulani herdsmen have killed no fewer than 5 people within one year. The gory images of bloodletting have continued to assault our sights, unabated, daily in Yoruba territories that have been invaded by armed Fulani herdsmen. On a weekly basis in Yewa and Oke-Ogun areas of Ogun andOyo States,Fulani herdsmen kidnap and rape Yoruba people at will. Read more

In Ekiti,Osun,Kwara and Kogi states,it is a daily battle of survival to curtail the red blooded onslaught ... of these Fulani marauders. This year alone, three Obas were abducted and slaughtered in Ekiti and Kwara state The Lagos-lbadan highway has been invaded, along many sections,by armed Fulani men, continuously creating a state of siege and trauma. At Mowe,a few weeks ago, fully armed Fulani entered into a settlement and kidnapped some people, while at another, they abducted about a dozen white garment Christian worshippers observing night vigil prayers. The story is similar,or even worse,in other parts of Nigeria. In June 2012 ,50 people were killed in Barkin Ladi in Plateau State. On the day they were to be buried, the herdsmen struck again killing a serving Senator Gyang Datung and another Hon Gyang Filani, the majority leader of the Plateau State House of Assembly. In 2019,105 souls were lost in the same Barkin Ladi,Plateau state. An attack of two communities in the state in February,2024 left over two hundred people massacred in the Mangu area of the state. In Kaduna state alone, barely a week ago, close to 200 children have been abducted for ransom by herdsmen. They are yet to be found and returned to their parents and guardians. In Benue state,as in other states, several communities have been subjected to perpetual attacks by the Fulani herdsmen. Read more

In April,2018 alone, here are some of the victims of the killings:

  • April 5-30 killed in Gwer West,Benue

  • April 5-50 killed in Offa,Kwara

  • April 7-4 killed in Bali,Taraba

  • April 7-2 killed in Agatu,Benue

  • April 8-5 killed in Birkin Ladi,Plateau State

  • April 8-5 murdered in Obi,Nasarawa

  • April 8-4 killed in Keana,Nasarawa

  • April 10-10 murdered in Benue

  • April 10-51 killed in Wukari,Taraba

  • April 18-4 killed in Bassa,Plateau,Benue

  • April 20-31 killed in Guma,Benue

  • April 25-7 killed in Awe,Nassarawa

  • April 28-14 killed in Birnin Gwari,Kaduna

  • April 29-5 killed in Gwer West.

This is totally separate from the madhouse attack of Christmas day in 2021 when over seventy people were slaughtered by these madmen. It has been estimated by the Catholic Diocese of Makurdi that over 500 souls were lost to these kinds of attack in the year 2023 alone.

THESE ARE THE PEOPLE TINUBU WANTS YORUBA TO HAVE AS OUR NEIGHBOURS!

Nowhere is safe in Osun State now. ... There are daily reports of Fulani horrendous attacks on travelers. They burst on to the roads, fire sporadically and mindlessly to kill people, maim, intimidate, kidnap, rape, brutalize and milk the survivors for ransom!

Groups in Ogun West Senatorial District of Ogun State under the aegis of Yewa Connecting minds (YCM),an umbrella body of youths and elders in the liberation movement of Yewaland have warned Hausa/Fulani herdsmen, who had been on the rampage in Yewa land lately, killing and molesting natives,as well as destroying farm crops with their cattle, that their activities were no more acceptable. Read more

The warning is contained in a statement issued by the Coordinator of the group ... Prince Ekunola Gbenga after the YCM emergency meeting in Ayetoro Yewa North Local Government of Ogun state. Then, two farmers were killed by the Herdsmen in Imeko Afon while protecting their farms after which their farmland was set on fire,an act that aggravated members of Yewa Connecting Minds, urging their members to get ready to swing into action. They warned that Fulani herdsmen should steer clear of Yewaland if their mission is to come and kill innocent citizens,Ekunola demanded. Read more

In Kwara state,a retired naval officer,Admiral Afolayan, who had retired into large scale

farming has his own sorry tales to tell: ... Afolayan owns a large expanse of farm in Osi,Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State,a dream of any committed and dedicated farmer anywhere in the world. It was something out of this world;one of its kind in the state:My experience has been extremely bad.I have suffered untold and monumental losses to the destructive activities of herdsmen. Two hectares out of the hectares of cocoa that l experimented with,at the confluence of the river at each edge of my farm, was completely burnt when the trees had fruits growing on them. His story of farm invasion by cattle of Fulani herdsmen is pathetic. The ex-military boss said he has lost over N100m of his investment to grazing by cows and bush burning by the herdsmen. It is disheartening that a man of his caliber who has decided to embrace agriculture should be frustrated by the menace. This revelation again throws up the looming danger of farmers/Fulani herdsmen clash in the state. ... Afolayan sounded a note of warning that the state and the country is on the precipice of peril,if this trend continued unchecked.Although the problem did not start today, the dimension it is assuming presently calls for concern and proactive action to nip it in the bud. I shall conclude this treatise with the well-publicized story of a Yoruba family ... on a visit to Nigeria from Canada. The woman, her husband and child were abducted and serially brutalized, raped and dehumanized by Fulani kidnappers before they were released on a hefty ransom. This story should illustrate why any reconciliation between Fulani and Yoruba may only happen in another incarnation. Tinubu must be told in uncertain terms that they are not wanted here in Yorubaland! Read more

IT IS BYE TO NIGERIA.NEVER AGAIN.

It took me a long time of reflections to put this piece together.First, let me thank my husband for the emotional support, the counseling and for his belief in the creator of heaven and earth which we call God or Allah.

The journey began in Auchi. We had travelled to Akure on a Monday, stayed with my husband's relations ... in the outskirt of this ancient town.In the evening of Monday,we visited the palace for dinner,my husband being a close friend to the son of the King. On Tuesday,we left for Ibadan, via the Akure-llesa road. Our plan was that after attending the wedding in Auchi,we would travel with (my husband)to Lagos, stay for few weeks before returning abroad where 1 had lived with my husband and children for more than a decade. We were in the car of a close family friend,an accountant who gave his time and energy for our comfort. We were five in the car, myself,my husband, our daughter,a lady who is my husband's niece who had joined us in Akure with the hope of travelling with us to Lagos. The driver accountant maintained a normal speed. He drove professionally. That gave me a lot of comfort and l felt I could find time to sleep a bit.My daughter was next tome, just 9.She was coming to Nigeria with me for the second time.Shortly after the ljare junction, the driver felt the wagon's tires ruptured and decided to pack the car with the hope of changing the tires. It was like a film.In a jiffy,a motley crowd of armed men in military uniform ... came out of the bush. They fired at the boot of the car.Ahead of us,five of them came out of the bush;another two came from the rear.My daughter screamed:"Mummy, daddy, what's going on". There was no time to say a word. They marched us through into the bush, firing into the sky. They hit me on my chest.Hit my daughter on her head, blood oozed. At this time,it was better to kill me.I shouted at one of the armed men.His response was hell.He went straight for my private part, tore my dress with his gun. The others ripped my dresses.I was i left with my undies,my husband and my daughter started crying. Two of them dug their teeth into my breasts. Read more

While attending a secondary school in Adamawa,I had lived with some Fulani,so ... l understand a few Fulani words.I started pleading,at least for my daughter. To my shock,at gun point, they removed the dress of my little girl, one of them carried her on his head as my baby struggled, shouting "Daddy, mummy, what's going on.Help me. ” 1 could not help myself. We were marched for 9 hours.I was half naked. My daughter was totally naked.I felt her tears was like a stream of blood on her cheek. Our phones had been seized. We ended up in an ungoverned region in the thick of the forest. We met a well-organized group. Read more

There were some kidnapped victims,I saw two women, two ladies and three men. ... There were some people with their legs chained to trees. They were as if half dead. We were separated.I was separated from my husband. My daughter was taken away.I only heard her scream intermittently.I did not know what they were doing to her. These men,now about two dozen had a full kitchen, they had a huge camp and a traditional medical team. But the camps appear isolated from each other. We heard noises afar indicating it might be nuclear settlements of camps.Right in my presence,I saw them pack the remains of a woman. They took her and buried her few meters away from us.She had tribal marks. Read more

I cannot describe the agony of 6 days in captivity in this little piece. ... I cannot talk about how they asked my husband to choose between myself being raped or that his daughter be raped. My husband broke down in uncontrollable tears. One of them hit him saying "Yoruba bastard, you dey cry.Idiot. " They now gave him the option that he should be raped by one homosexual among them.My husband is a devout Muslim. He told them homosexual and rape of any kind was against Islam. They hit him with the butt of the AK 47: Read more

"What do you know about Islam?"You can imagine, you are being asked ... to choose between being raped by a homosexual, your daughter, just nine years old,or your wife being raped? They gave the forth option,if you fail to choose, they would rape my daughter, rape my husband and rape me.I made myself the sacrificial lamb.My husband begged, saying they should name their price. One of themasked him to bend down. Three beastly criminals sat on his back, jumping until he was too weak to stand. l was not to put on any additional cloth on my body for 24 hours. The rain fell once.I became the relic and a sexual museum for the armed men who in turn addressed me and asked questions about my financial standing.New Fulani men joined the camp. They organized military training for the new Fulani men that came. Teaching them how to shoot and walk through circles of glowing fire. We were not released until after 6 days. We had to walk the same zig-zag journey back to the main road, our eyes blindfolded. Read more

During the negotiation to pay they said the money was not for themalone that ... they had to settle "those who send us".Forme,I see a thriving, organized crime supported by powerful political interests. Now,I do not think we were released to freedom after paying a whopping 8 million naira.I do not think we can ever be free,we can never be free, from the anguish, the psychological trauma, the nightmares we suffered, the occasional fits of our daughter, her waking up midnight behaving strangely, her asking the same question over and over:“Mummy, mummy, why?. Why?”Ido not have any answer. Read more

In my life,I have never passed through a torture chamber like this. ... I do not think any society should let this happen.I do not know the fate of those we met,and about 7 other people brought during the 6 days we were in captivity. What I saw was a nation that has collapsed but pretends she lives, apeople on life support.Crime is not restricted to Fulani people alone. We have Yoruba criminals. But I don't think Yoruba criminals are as beastly. These elements are savages.I can't imagine Yoruba thieves going to Sokoto or Maiduguri to kidnap Fulani people and keep them in their own bushes. It gives me mental torture that this is happening and some fools are even trying to justify it or look for excuses. Well,as a devout Muslim,I and my family have taken solace in Allah, not the Nigerian ... police, not the Army, not the governments. We have taken our faith the way it came.I thank God that we have successfully returned to where we live, thousands of miles from Nigeria. We thank God that we have made a vow:Never shall me,any of my children or husband in our lifetime visit Nigeria. Our remains any time we die, will also not be buried in Nigeria. It was a suggestion by my daughter which we all adopted. Buhari.Democracy can produce anything, even the worst in the society. ... What I worry about is the conspiracy of silence by the people themselves, the ignorance, the treachery and the illusion that one day, things will get better through another election.Since I was born in Nigeria, each year had led from bad to worse and on and on.I do not have a solution to what is going on,but I think very soon, hell will let loose upon the earth as long as there is no law and order and anarchy and the rule of brutes is the order of the day. THE FULANI AGENDA,REVISED AND REVISITED

The systematic and methodical ethnic cleansing of parts of the North of Nigeria by the triple combination of Boko Haram, ... Fulani Herdsmen and Bandits [Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP)] can be understood for what it really is only when you know who the Fulani people really are, their origin,history,socio-political organization and their ambition as a people. They are a small but extremely well organized, cohesive and disciplined tribal stock whose footprints stretch from the Futa Jalon highlands in Senegal and Guinea to the Cameroons in Central Africa and Northern Sudan. Wikipedia reports that "The countries in Africa where they are presently include Mauritania,Senegal,Guinea,The Gambia,Mali,Nigeria,Sierra Leone,Benin,Burkina Faso,Guinea Bissau,Cameroon,Côte d'voire,Niger,Chad,Togo, the Central African Republic,Ghana,Liberia, and as far as Sudan in the east.Fula people form a minority in every country they live, but in Guinea they represent a plurality of the population (40%)" Read more

The Fulani spread has been allegorically likened to a slithering snake with its tail ... in Senegal and its fangs and tongues in the Nigerian delta region, sucking itsoil. Until we understand the lethal nature of the evil we are dealing with,we cannot begin to fathom how to address the problem. The Fulani have exhibited a history of total bestiality and utmost ruthlessness in all their campaigns from the pre 1804 skirmishes and Uthman Dan Fodio Jihads against Hausaland,Kanem Bornu and Yorubaland to the Boko Haram and Fulani Herdsmen insurgency of today. Read more

What we are seeing manifesting in the North and South of Nigeria today ... follows the trend which Fulani insurrection had taken throughout history. In fact, their most successful campaign, the Fulani Jihad of 1804,which culminated in the formation of the Sokoto caliphate started with this type of insurrection and defiance of constituted authority. They did not stop until Hausaland was on its knees, its cities in ruins, its kings and Serikis decapitated and its people eternally enslaved. The result is that the Hausa today are the most dis-oriented of all Nigerian tribes:They are leaderless, uneducated, oppressed, confused and clueless. They don't even have a separate identity anymore. That had been stolen by the Fulani who exploit the fact that they are conquered people to fuse with the Hausa and exploit their larger number, widespread language and the Islamic religion. There is now a bi-tribal,mono religious entity called Hausa-Fulani that was nonexistent until 200 years ago. This arrangement has the Fulani as the rulers and the emirs, while the Hausa remain the serfs, the hewers of wood and stone, the Al-majiri and the talakawas.Millions of their children have been turned to Al-majiris (homeless, dirty children beggars roaming the streets of major Hausa cities)who ultimately graduate to become indoctrinated armed youths ready to die for the course of their Fulani overlords. The Fulani successfully sold the Islamic religion to the defeated, gullible Hausa in exchange for their lands ... and control over their fate.Today,no credible book on history coming out of the North will openly discuss the glory of the Hausa Habe dynasties before 1804.They have almost succeeded in erasing the history of a people. THIS IS THE SCENARIO THE MALEVOLENT FULANI WANT TO RE-ENACT FOR YORUBALAND AND THE REST OF NIGERIA,AND WHICH TINUBU IS AIDING AND SUPPORTING WITH HIS UNGUARDED STATEMENT.

Today,Yoruba landis facing the greatest existential threat to its survival ... than it had ever faced in the many millennia of its history. This threat is bigger than whatOyo Empire or its sister kingdoms ever faced from without. It is more vicious, more ferocious and fleetingly more mobile than the Fulani Jihad of 1804. It is likely to be more brutal than the civil war of 1967 to 1970,and it is proving to be deadlier than the June 12 imbroglio which paralyzed Nigeria for five years. Read more

THE OSUN OSOGBO SACRILEGE!

The Osun Osogbo Festival is one of the flagship cultural programs of many Yoruba subnational communities. ... The origin of the programme dates back to almost 700 year ago when a great hunter called Olutimehin led his followers to the banks of the Osun River to stave off impending famine threatening to ravage his people. According to folklore, the river goddess, Yeye Osun, appeared to them and enacted a promise-treaty with them that she would protect and prosper them if they would worship and propitiate to her every year. This festival is similar to the various cultural programs of other Yoruba communities like the Olojo festival of Ile-Ife, the Ojude Oba festival of Ijebuland, the Lisabi Day of Abeokuta, the Ekimogun Day of Ondo, etc. These programs are deeply rooted in the cultural beliefs and nuances of the Yoruba people. Each one of them has the overt celebratory and symbolic exhibition of dances, masquerades and cultural outpouring of the Yoruba people in the locality and environs; and the covert, inner caucus Awo aspect that is secretive, deeply religious and Ifa based. Nothing would be done overtly until Ifa had been consulted and the covert divination had cleared the way for the particular festival to commence. Read more

The Osun Osogbo festival is a two week program held in three parts:

The Cleansing Parade round the city of Osogbo and environs, called 'Iwopopo' which, in addition, symbolizes the cultural reunion of the people with their ancestors, the founders of the Osogbo;

The Lighting of the 500-year-old Sixteen Point Lamp, called 'Ina Olojumerindinlogun';

The Propitiation and Sacrifice to Yeye Osun by the Osun riverside. This commences in a large procession led by the king, the reigning Ataoja of Osogbo, accompanied by dance, music and Ewi (Yoruba poetry) recitation of gaily costumed worshippers in traditional Yoruba attires, the Osun priestesses and a ritualistic performer, a virgin lady from one of the royal families, carrying a calabash as present to Yeye Osun. She is called the Arugba.

From the foregoing, it is clear that this program is intrinsically Yoruba in origin, content and concept. ... There are certain parts of Yoruba life, culture and tradition that are strictly out of bounds and limits to foreigners. The pomp and affluence of the program notwithstanding, its inner sanctum must remain sacrosanct. It is a sacrilege to hand over the organization of such a delicate psyche of Yoruba culture to a non-native. We have learnt that the hosting and organization of this year’s celebration of the Osun Osogbo festival has been contracted to an Igbo owned company! Is it that there are no Yoruba persons or outfits that can handle this better? What criteria were used that an indigenous Yoruba organization cannot satisfy? While this organization has remained faceless and nameless, we have since unearthed the name of the owner to be one Chief Wilson Chibututu. There is one Oyindamola Olukanmi, the purported media manager of the Osun Osogbo festival, who has been doing all the talking, urging corporate bodies, government agencies and private individuals to collaborate with organizers of the 2024 Osun-Osogbo festival to make this year’s celebration unique and a monumental success. Even Susanne Wenger, the Austrian-Nigerian artist, illustrator and comics’ artist who popularized ... the groove and the festival to a global audience, had to marry into it, was baptized with it and got initiated, through ancient rites, into the cult before she could be accepted as a participant. In addition, she fought many conservation and anti-poaching battles and formed the New Sacred Art movement to challenge land speculators from encroaching on the sacred land reserved for the festival. Her main focus was the Yoruba culture and she was successful in building an artist cooperative in Osogbo. Her great works led to the designation of the groove as a World Heritage site by the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). If this is juxtaposed against the award of the organization of the Osun Osogbo Festival 2024 contract to someone of Igbo extraction, who had neither committed to Yoruba culture, invested nor identified with it beyond the aim of profiteering from a cultural event that reflects the inner core of Yoruba spirituality, it can be seen as purely sacrilegious! It must be emphasized that this is not a Nigerian institution or property. All property rights, if any, on the Osun Osogbo Festival 2024 are owned by the Palace of the Ataoja of Osogbo, the custodian of the Festival. It is an insult to the Yoruba race that the organization of a hardcore Yoruba event has been prostituted to an entity from an alien race, the Igbo race, a people that continues to disparage our values, shows utmost disrespect to our people, envies and covets all that is ours, and are unconscionable in conduct and in decorum. Governor Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, irrespective of his denial or otherwise of any connection to the award of this contract to Our Heritage Branding and Advertising Company Limited, allegedly owned by the aforementioned Chief Wilson Chibututu, cannot absolve himself of a wholesome blame for this insult and affront to our sensibilities. He must know that he cannot govern any art of Yorubaland with this half-breed mentality! Read more

If he chooses to extricate himself from any responsibility in this regard, ... he should know that he is investing comprehensively in a failed re-election bid, come 2026, if Yoruba had not exited the failed union by then. We shall vigorously campaign against the success of a candidate who does not seem to value and respect the sanctity of our collective Yoruba patrimony. We are not interested in pan-Nigeria. We pray daily for its immediate break up for us Yoruba to pursue our unhindered, undisturbed ad unshackled path to greatness. This contract must be revoked immediately. It must be terminated forthwith. No gain, except filthy lucre, in-law payback and ingratitude can come from this endeavor. Read more
