YORUBA NATIONAL DAY – 2023 /

End of All Wars between All Yoruba Ethnic Groups – September 23, 1886

The Yoruba Nation, being presently an integral part of Nigeria, usually marks the 23rd of September of every year as its National Day. This was the day that a peace treaty to end all wars among all Yoruba sub-ethnic groups was signed in the year 1886. As part of the activities being planned to mark the 2023 Yoruba National Unity day, the IDANDE Organization respectfully and cordially invites all Yoruba states and peoples (Yoruba sub-ethnic groups) in Nigeria, including the Yoruba diaspora in the Americas and the Caribbean, to a colorful festival of unity, peace and oneness of the Yoruba nation.

PLANNED ACTIVITIES:

The week (Thursday September 21 – Saturday September 23, 2023) of the celebration of Yoruba National (Unity) Day, 2023 will witness:

(a) Thursday, September 21, 2023 – Exhibition stands open for marketers and exhibitors to promote their goods and services relevant to Yoruba culture and cosmology. Exhibition stands are open for all the three days of the programme;

(b)Symposium on:(b) Friday, September 22, 2023

I. Panacea for Sustainable Peace and Unity in Yorubaland and

II. Path to a Successful Integration of a Worldwide Yoruba Diaspora.

(c) Saturday, September 23, 2023;

I. In collaboration with Think Yoruba First (TYF), IDANDE will join in the foundation laying ceremony and launch of the Kiriji Peace Treaty and Memorial Parks [to be located at the Igbajo (Ibadan Camp), Okemesi (Ekitiparapo Camp) and Imesi-Ile (Battleground) sites, in addition to the launch of a fund for the construction of a Central Market and a Modern Road to link the three communities]. This will take place simultaneously in London, United Kingdom, Imesi-Ile and Ibadan, Yorubaland.

II. The launch/sales of IWE-IRANTI (a book compilation of violent attacks and atrocities committed against the Yoruba Nation by external forces. It will contain a comprehensive list of the many martyrs and heroes lost to the Yoruba emancipation struggle;

III. The launch of the endowment fund to take care of the families and dependents of the fallen heroes;

IV. The launch of the Digital Food Village (DFV) project: This project is designed to coordinate food chain distribution from the source to the destination. All operations will be driven by Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

V. The Classic Finale: The celebration of Yoruba Unity Day of Culture, Dance, Music, Food and Fashion Festival.
